From Vandeventer + Carlander Architects comes a modern home design located on Lake Union, right in the city center.How fascinating it is to have a house on a lake! It would be interesting to know what the address of this home is. You probably did not see this coming, but there are a lot of similar floating houses on Lake Union. In fact, if I recall correctly, Tom Hanks owned one in the movie “Sleepless in Seattle”. This particular project was meant as a contemporary looking building with plenty of entertainment space. As you can see in the pictures below, there are many decks and the large floor to ceiling windows allow great views of the city in every direction. This is not exactly the most intimate crib, but it’s okay, as long as the owners don’t mind.

Sodae House - This modern island home boasts an unusual blend of angles and glass, making it an unlikely find among its natural surroundings on the island of Kostverlorenkade 1 in Amsterdam. “The starting point for the concept was the perception of the landscape, the distant high buildings of the Zuid As and the Rembrandt Tower as well as the view of the aeroplanes travelling to and from Schiphol,” according to the architects. The ground floor becomes a den of sorts, occupied by the home’s most intimate areas like the bedrooms and baths. A walkout to the garden makes you feel at one with the landscape. The upper floor is where all the living and socializing is done, complete with an open-concept loft-style kitchen and living room abutting cool glass walls. Below grade for work and play, the basement conceals a work-out room and a home theater. The whole home has an eclectic style to it, from the outside in. But even in their odd mix, every element encapsulates luxury. VMX Architects.

Milan Design Week is gathering more and more interesting showroom designs. Today we would like to present the ALV Showroom, which we find to have an inviting and unusual look.From Italian architect Fabio Novembre, the unit has a circular shape with sinuous lines. The material used was concrete which was given a white and inviting finish. Its shelves will house the company’s products- clothing collections for men, women and kids- which will be showcased for the whole world to see. An impressive ceiling lamp was integrated right in the center of the showroom for a dramatic touch. We will bring you more fresh news from the Milan Furniture Fair soon.

You are looking at a beautiful looking home with an uncommon design that was redecorated especially for the singer. The credits belong to BNO Design, an interior design company from New York. Meant as an entertaining space, the abode is a display of eclectic furniture and interesting textures.  The color palette is diverse, ranging from white to strong red. As you probably already figured out, this lovely apartment is located in Sweden and heavily captures the North-European interior design style. The flat has two separated rooms and a living room that is connected to the hallway and the kitchen. You can see more on how this home is organized in the plan of the apartment below. A functional and highly aesthetic living-room is the apartment’s main “asset”. It features no less than six windows which provide a large quantity of natural light throughout the day. The living room also houses a dining table, a sofa and a coffee table. A nice open floor plan connects the living room with the all-equipped kitchen. Located in Cadiz, Spain, Sotogrande House is yet another success of A-cero Architects, a name which has in time become similar with high quality architecture. The project features a couple of king-size bedrooms, an all equipped kitchen and large en-suite bathrooms. The interiors are modern, spacious and… white. Even the stairs are in tune with the color profile. The Palm Islands are artificial islands in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on which major commercial and residential infrastructure will be constructed. They are being constructed by Nakheel Properties, a property developer in the United Arab Emirates, who hired Belgian and Dutch dredging and marine contractor Jan De Nul and Van Oord, some of the world’s specialists in land reclamation. The islands are the Palm Jumeirah, the Palm Jebel Ali and the Palm Deira.

Global Architectural Development have recently come up with an architecture design that left us speechless. Located in Bodrum, Turkey, an important tourist attraction during the summer season, this amazing home comes with two original surprises. Most residences stick to a common roof built out of tiles, shingles and so on. Not this particular home, though. Instead of a regular house covering architecture plan, the team over at GAD decided that they should cover the house with pools that collect rain water. This unusual residence has three distinct buildings that are connected through a glass atrium. The exterior is unique in shape and style. The rooms are all light and airy and the roof water keeps the house cool during the summer. Pretty impressive, don’t you agree?

From Plan B Arquitectos (Felipe Mesa) + Giancarlo Mazzanti, project V House is located in Sabana de Bogotá, Colombia and comes with a fantastic architecture. Its design was inspired by the molecular glass structure, which gave the building its specific geometry while its overall feel carries the owner’s lifestyle. We don’t know about you guys, but for us this place is the ultimate symbol of freedom while living large. The house looks like a dream crib, no matter what the angle of view. The exterior features impressive terraces and breathtaking views. Inside- an unusual display of modern furniture, music instruments and original shapes. Several readers inquired about the pebble floor cushions featured in a recent post on the LoftFloat houseboat by Magma Design. And we can understand why. Livingstones are a modular seating concept developed by French designer Stephanie Marin that is both practical and poetic.

Found on Dezeen, this amazing staircase is in the former home of Portuguese poet and philosopher Antero de Quental. Though he lived there for only a decade — 1881-1891 — the building was recently converted into a literary center and the spiral staircase with integrated book shelves takes center stage.

We’ve seen a lot of home designs throughout the years and we can say there are few those that really have everything: a fantastic location, an incredible design and architecture, so on and so forth. This particular villa is located on the beach of Kamala in Phuket, Thailand and is currently up for sale, listed at a cost of $8.66 million. We found a brief property overview which states: 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a total interior surface of 739 sq meters (7,955 sq ft) and no less than 796 sq meters (8,568 sq ft) of terrace space. These almost seem like abstract figures when compared to those of a common European or American home. Moreover, the villa features an in-ground pool, a sauna, a wine room and a home theater system. We do not know if you guys recall, but we had some information on this project in a previous Freshome post. Today we are back with more pictures on its unusual architecture and with something extra regarding its interior design. The project is called “Reflection of Mineral” and belongs to Japanese architect Yasuhiro Yamashi from Atelier Tekuto. Located not far from the center of Tokyo, the contemporary 480 sq ft (44 sq m) residence breaks the architecture rules its surroundings. The amazing abstract shape was designed very efficiently, making use of the little space. Every angle of site brings with it a different view. The interior’s original shapes and dimensions are determined by the architecture and the arrangements had to be done accordingly. You can check out the final results in the pictures below. Enjoy!
